MW Men's Lacrosse to Host First Annual Boys Coaches Clinic on January 28

 

University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse head coach Drew Delaney and his staff will welcome high school, club, and youth boy's lacrosse coaches to campus for the first annual Boys Coaches Clinic at UMW on Saturday January 28.

The clinic will be free of charge and feature presentations by the UMW coaching staff, with topics ranging from drills, schemes, and a detailed FO presentation. 

The event will be held in the Digital Auditorium located in the Hurley Convergence Center on the campus of the University of Mary Washington. Check-in will begin at 9:00 AM – Presentations will run from 9:30 AM-12:00 PM. All attendees are invited to attend practice at 1:00 PM at the Battleground Athletics complex.

Evaluations will be held on FEBRUARY 4th at Liberty High School (rain/snow date 2-5-17). If you have registered successfully, you will receive an email with your age groups specific time once registration closes.

USLacrosse Membership - Is amazing, especially for Parents that want to help by becoming a head coach or assistant coach. US Lacrosse has a plethora of drills and information for coaches!

The Fauquier Youth Lacrosse League has a Director of Coaches Development now as well. Stay tuned for opportunities to learn more. So if you never played, please do not be intimidated! This is a great, fast ...growing sport in VA and is very welcoming to new members!

Evaluations Scheduled for 2017

***IMPORTANT DATE***

Evaluations (Boys and Girls) have been scheduled for February 4th and 5th at Liberty High School. The boys will be from 10-1 and the girls will be from 1-4, on the 4th. If the weather is bad the evaluations will be on the 5th, at the same times.

Fauquier Youth Lacrosse League is excited to announce Registration is open for the Spring 2017 season!!

 

14 Days left to Register before the 2017 Season!

 

Fauquier Youth Lacrosse League Mission Statement: To provide the youth of Fauquier County with the opportunity to experience one of the country’s fastest growing sports – Lacrosse – and to assist in their development through skill building and competition while serving as positive role models on and off the field of play while ensuring that everyone has a fun experience.

There are a couple of changes you should be aware of that US Lacrosse and FYLL have adopted:

·        Girls Program

  • This is a beginner’s team that will allow the kids to start learning the fundamentals of lacrosse. The kids will be given a lacrosse stick and a pinney as part of their registration. The girls will have practices and scrimmages. Eligible players must be Kindergarten or under for current school year to register for this division. Age’s 4,5 & 6 year old’s.
  • The remaining Grade Brackets have not changed.

 

·        Boys Program:  Is now grouped by the following:

  • 6U - For boys 4 and 5.  Player may not have turned 6 on or before 8/31/2016
  • 8U - For boys 6, 7, and 8.  Player may not have turned 9 on or before 8/31/2016
  • 10U - For boys 9, 10 & some 11.  Players may not have turned 11 on or before 8/31/2016.
  • 12U – For boys 11, 12 & some 13 years old.  Player may not have turned 13 on or before 8/31/2016.  
  • 14U - For boys 13, 14 & some 15.  Players may not have turned 15 on or before 8/31/2016. 

 

Additional Information:

1)      Evaluations will be February 4th, at Liberty High School. Boys evals will be at 10am to 1pm, and Girls will be 1pm to 4pm. If the weather is bad evaluations will be moved to February 5th, at the same times. 

2)      Practices will begin in early March 2017, with games starting on March 26, 2017. The season ends in early June 2017. 

3)      Equipment –

a.      Boy players (other than 6U) require full gear to include stick, helmet, shoulder pads, gloves, elbow guards and supporter/cup.

b.      Girl players (other than pre-K) require a stick, eye protection, mouth guard and often use gloves.

c.       Boys 6U & Girls Pre-K will be provided with a stick and Pinney.

EQUIPMENT LOAN PROGRAM

 
FYLL offers an equipment loan program for first time registrants to help defray costs.
A full set of equipment is provided so your child can try the sport for the first year without the need to make an investment in equipment.  FYLL will  hold your check in the amount of the replacement cost until the end of the season.  Your check is returned to you once all pieces of the equipment are returned.
